Some stories come full circle—and Cici and Ren’s is a great example of that.

They first crossed paths back in 2012 through their university’s Indonesian Student Organisation here in Melbourne. There was a connection right away, but life had other plans. Cici moved back to Indonesia in 2013, and they lost touch. Fast forward five years—Cici messaged Ren on WhatsApp out of the blue in 2018, and it didn’t take long before things picked up right where they left off. A month later, they were officially together.

Their journey since then hasn’t been without its challenges. But in 2023, everything aligned, Ren planned a proposal on Cici’s birthday—complete with a surprise dinner by a private chef, a bunch of close friends, and family watching from Zoom. It was meant to be in a garden, but Melbourne weather had other ideas—so they made the most of a cozy apartment in the CBD. It turned out to be even more meaningful.

As someone who does wedding videography in Melbourne, these are the stories I love to be part of—real, personal, and full of the little details that make a day feel truly yours.

For their big day, Cici and Ren wanted something intimate, somewhere they could celebrate freely with people who’ve been part of their journey. The venue they chose has a peaceful lawn with a wooden stage (perfect for the akad nikah), and a view over the winery that will set the tone for a calm and beautiful celebration.

What moments are they looking forward to most? Walking down the aisle, the ijab qabul, honoring Ren’s late father during sungkeman, and soaking it all in as they leave the stage with flower petals flying. It’s going to be emotional, for sure.

But it’s not just about them—they’ve really thought about their guests too. They’re blending Indonesian wedding traditions into the day, from decor to music to a custom wejangan guestbook where people can leave their well-wishes and advice. After the ceremony, the plan is to switch gears into a laid-back garden party—lots of good food, music, and laughs.

As a Melbourne wedding videographer, I can say this wedding is going to be something special. It’s got all the ingredients: a strong story, meaningful traditions, and a couple who genuinely want everyone to feel included.
